Beating depression with Omega-3
admin | March 30, 2009This article is not intended as medical advice. You should always consult a doctor or other qualified healthcare professional before beginning any diet regimen. You should always consult a psychiatrist prior to beginning any treatment for any mental illness such as (but not limited to) depression.
If you suffer from depression, then MOXXOR may be able to help you. You may be considering adding MOXXOR supplements to your own diet to treat your own depression. MOXXOR supplements have been linked to a number of health benefits including depression. The United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regards Omega-3 as generally safe with side effects that are usually minor. Still, there are some things you need to know before taking MOXXOR for depression (or any condition). You should also be sure to consult with a psychiatrist before adding MOXXOR supplements to treat depression or any mental disorder.
Can MOXXOR Supplements Help with Depression?
Yes, quite possibly. MOXXOR supplements that are rich in docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), particularly those found in fish, are best. DHA may be “brain food” that increases gray matter (brain tissue) in three parts of the brain: (the amygdala, hippocampus and cingulate) that tend to be smaller in people who suffer from serious depression. You may think that simply taking more DHA will grow your brain more but it’s not quite that simple.
MOXXOR is not a miracle cure for depression. Also, there are many causes or contributing factors to depression such as drugs and alcohol, life experiences and genetics. Still, research does indicate that DHA improves both mood and memory. This is a classic example of the old adage that “you are what you eat.” For example:
- Omega-3 supplements may lessen suicidal behavior and decrease postpartum depression. Please note that these are preliminary results and that research is ongoing.
- Low levels of DHA have been linked with aggressive behavior.
- Diet may be a very important factor in how people respond to depression. The chocolate and fatty foods we call “comfort” foods may actually worsen the depression.
People with diets high in Omega-6 are at increased risk of depression (along with a laundry list of other ailments). Most Americans consume between 11-30 times more omega-6 than MOXXOR. An article in Psychosomatic Magazine recommends 4:1 or even 2:1. The problem lies both in the amount of fat Americans consume and the type of fats they consume.
The Big Picture
There have been studies linking Omega-3s (such as those found in MOXXOR) with reduced depression; however, there are also a few contradictory studies. Research continues.
Keep in mind that MOXXOR, like any supplement, may or may not help a specific person with a specific condition. Just because MOXXOR has a strong link to a certain condition does not mean that taking MOXXOR will help you relieve or prevent that condition. Likewise, just because MOXXOR has only a fair or circumstantial link to a condition such as depression does not mean that taking MOXXOR will not help you with your depression. Every person is unique and a number of factors come into play for any health condition. Please remember to consult your doctor or healthcare professional before starting any new diet regimen.
